Never be loyal to your company. They will lay you off when it's in their best present interests. Nothing you've done for them in the past will matter. Never feel guilty about posting your resume anywhere while you're employed. No one else will ever look out for you, so you better take it upon yourself to do it.

Posted by: Al at March 10, 2004 06:34 PMNo, I'm cool.
Posted by: G at March 10, 2004 06:47 PMWeird. I got this exact same advice just a few days ago. And that was from a guy who is starting his own company and needs people to be loyal in order for it to work. I hear it enough times, I might just quit my current job. ;)
Posted by: lesley at March 11, 2004 06:33 AMWell, you should still take pride in your job, and put in a good day's work for your pay. But even for a startup, never feel guilty about bolting. The company should be thinking of ways to keep you there. In a tough economy like this, they have the upper hand, of course.
