I'm such a procrastinator. I still haven't written the stupid GRE. Someone please yell at me.
Posted by G at March 6, 2004 01:39 PM | TrackBackTake the goddamn GRE, fool!
My advice for you is to get on the phone on Monday, and call 1-800-GRE-CALL. Register for the test in Glendale or Culver City, and schedule it for 4 weeks from now.
Of course, you've already missed this year's school applications. But you can get a head start for next year.
You should only need to take the General test. Pick up the Kaplan book to study, if you only buy one.
Also, you can take the GMAT at the same place. Different phone number, though: 1-800-GMAT-NOW.
Posted by: Vivek at March 6, 2004 04:00 PMThe good thing is with the USC program, I can start taking courses unregistered in the degree program, and upon acceptance, have them applied toward the degree. Whew.
Posted by: G at March 6, 2004 04:03 PMOk, started the application to grad school. Thanks for yelling at me, Vivek. Now to book the GRE date. What is GPA and how do I gigure it out? I'll just write down 4.0 for everything. That's apparently a good GPA.
Posted by: G at March 7, 2004 01:16 PMDon't take it in Culver City. Culver City stinks and there are no good places to eat. Plus then you have to go down the 405 and you know what hell that can be.
Posted by: lesley at March 8, 2004 11:06 AMHoly crap! My GPA is going to suck. I was working that hard to get C's???? Stupid letters. And I have more F's than I know what to do with. Forget this, I'm writing in 4.0 until they badger me about it.
Posted by: G at March 8, 2004 01:29 PMIf you look at the back of your transcripts, they give you the letter grade equivalents for UW percentages. At UW, an A is not 91%.
The crappy thing is that you can't just find your average in percent and convert it to a GPA. That'll generally be higher than your real GPA, since the letter->GPA function is not linear.
