Bush In 30

Recently, MoveOn.org announced the winners of the Bush in 30 Seconds political ad competition. Personally, I think the "overall best ad" is pretty mundane. A bunch of children working? Yawn. Can anyone explain to me what the ramifications of a huge national debt (or even a yearly deficit) is on the average citizen? It seems like every country has an enourmous one. So what's the diff? Does that mean there is less money for social programs and the like? Yet, I don't see anyone in a hurry to pay these things down. They budget like it's not even there.

I thought the ad was clearly the best of the bunch. It definitely was at the upper end in terms of production quality, and I thought the idea was good. Can anyone verify that it was actually shown during the State of Union address last week?

Btw, Canada has no deficit. We got rid of it a few years ago...remember? Debt, however...I think is known and calculated into the GDP (I could be very wrong on this), so it's sort of built in into how the country operates economically.

Canada may have a balanced budget, but we still have a national debt. I don't know about the State of Confusion address, I'm pretty sure it didn't get aired. CBS has banned the commercial for the superbowl, which really sucks.
