get an imaginary girlfriend on EBay. Natalie just called and canceled on me. She says she has to go in to work early tonight. She did propose a raincheck, but nothing concrete - something about next weekend. I think that's date-speak for "you're a loser, and I don't want to go out with you again!". But, hey, I could be wrong. I last saw her 7 weeks ago, she could be pregnant and showing by now for all I know. Could be a lot of things.
I'll make like a 40-something divorcé and head over to my local sushi-ya and dine alone tonight. Yes, I know, society frowns on people who dine by themselves, but I don't care, I do it a lot. Mostly because I'm a lousy cook.

The only thing I don't like about dining alone is the time between ordering and eating. You just sit there, with very little to do, and no one to talk to.
Posted by: vivek at January 26, 2004 12:20 PMTake her up on the rain check.
I think you waited too long between date 1 and date 2.
Posted by: Oli at January 26, 2004 12:25 PMI didn't wait too long. I went to Vancouver, she went to Atlanta, then she only emailed me back two weeks ago saying she's back in town and settled down again.
I did ask her to let me know if she was free next weekend. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt until I have good reason to believe otherwise.
For me, when I dine alone, I always grab an LA Weekly or some magazine to fill that time between ordering and eating. So, it's quite pleasant actually. And at the sushi-ya, there's always the chef who will chat with you. And I do chat with them to practice Japanese.
