Yesterday I went to Return of the King, the last installment in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The theatre was packed, as one could expect for a Sunday afternoon in North Vancouver. All those bodies in one room created an oven, that after 3 and a half hours had me really uncomfortable. Not to mention the bed sores you get for sitting there for so long. Can you tell I didn't think it was that great? The last two Ring's flicks have been dissapointments. What did everyone else think?
Also - no one has brought this up, but go rent The Siege and watch it. It stars Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis, and that chick who married Warren Beatty. It was made in 1998, and it's about terrorists in NYC - it's so eery how prophetic it is. The scariest part? Martial law is declared in NYC and they start rounding up every brown guy they can find!!! When it was made, I think that scenario was considered to be a little far fetched, but in the post 9/11 era, this movie has a strange new relevance. Check it out. I wonder why it's never been talked abuot in the media...
