Photo phones (PHONOs!)

After years of ridicule for not having a cell phone (and that's after years of ridicule for having one), I caved and picked one up. For $50, I got this Sony Ericsson T616 with Bluetooth and, of all things, a digital camera.

Let me start by saying that I didn't buy this with any expectation that it would replace a camera. But I need to ask... is this some kind of strange fad? Like the crappy video phones that Radio Shack was selling (and subsequently killed for lack of sales and poor functionality) in 1993? The resolution is really bad (as expected) and plus, it costs me a pretty penny just to send one of these photos to a friend like they try to sell in the commercials. The whole thing reeks of a ploy by the big 5 telecoms to try and make more money off of service fees, rather than any sort of move towards technical innovation.

Well, anyway. I am glad that my phone has Q-Bert.

Thought I'd never see the day. Now your woman has you on an even shorter leash. Unless we don't tell her about the phone..... If you told her you bought a digital camera, it wouldn't be lying, it's just not telling the whole truth.

Whoa - I checked out the review. Pretty slick.

How are the 20 polyphonic ring tones? I always wanted a phone that, when it rang, yelled at you: "[ring1]Pick up the phone![/ring1] [ring2]Pick up the damn phone![/ring2]" or even better, a parrot saying: "Hello? Hello?"
