Did you know that the living wage is now $16/hour? That's the minimum you have to earn to feed and shelter yourseld in California. While minimum wage in this state is $6.75 I think. We all probably worked for minimum wage at one point in our lives. I worked at Harveys in Union Station. That's a Canadian fast food chain, where Canadians go to eat to keep it real. I quit so I could watch the Blue Jays in the World series in peace.
Tell me about your first jobs.
Posted by G at September 29, 2003 05:29 AM | TrackBackI was reading a couple of weeks ago and saw an article on this. So $16/hour was what they calculated as the living wage on average for California. LA was higher than the average (don't remember what number), but San Francisco was a whopping ~$34 an hour!!! Without revealing my salary, let's just say that that number doesn't make me feel all that good.

Posted by: Al at September 29, 2003 09:28 AMFirst job? Does baby-sitting count? Or do I need a paystub to prove something? Otherwise I was one of those bratty spoiled kids whose first job was Waterloo co-op...on salary. :|
