Has anyone tried that new coke with half the sugar? Any good? I always thought it was curious that a company would come out with a new product that basically says their old product (that they continue to sell) is unhealthy.
You can't sell two products in competition with eachother. It won't work out.

There's the people that like coke, hate diet coke.
There's the people that like diet coke, hate coke.
Then there's the people that hate diet coke, like coke, but feel guilty when they drink coke.
Enter C2. I hate the fact that it works, but it's damn brilliant.
Posted by: Oli at November 16, 2004 01:37 PMHmmm, good explanation, Oli. I don't know anything about marketing, I was just talking shit. So this will only work if C2 tastes very close to coke, if not the same, right?
Because for all the people who hate diet for the taste, and feel guilty about regular, C2 has to be a tasety alternative.
And if that's true, it begs the question, why not replace coke with C2? I think they don't want to mess with re-inventing a winning formula, like the New Coke fiasco of the 80s.
Posted by: G at November 16, 2004 02:05 PMYup, it'll actually work best if they taste as close as possible to exactly the same.
The way I see it: There's no way you can convert someone who
A. Loves regular coke and feels no guilt
B. Loves diet coke
So I'd think no-one's switching, which is why C2 should not replace anything.
Personnally? I'm going to have to try C2 because even though I like the regular stuff, I feel like it's bad enough for me that I should not have too much of it... and I *hate* the taste of diet.
So if my Rum and Coke tastes the same with C2, I guess that'll be a new drink name.
