Music for the rest of you

OK - I don't want to turn this into some kind of ad, but guess where I am right now... I'm watching Steve Jobs present the release of iTunes for Windows. Go download it! NOW! And start buying music. No reason to buy CDs anymore. Trust me - you'll understand when you start using the store. I've been using it for almost six months and it's the most satisfying experience. Goodbye HMV: I have no need to visit you ever again.

A little statistic... even with all the PC online music stores that have come up in the last few months, iTunes for Mac-only accounted for 70% of ALL online music sales. That's pretty cool. And it's going to help my Apple stock go up.

Oh - the Windows iTunes isn't available to download for another couple of hours. Try after noon.

Hmmm, it's crashing on install. This sucks. And why do I have to install anything at all? Can't this be a web ap? Back to being illegal.

ooooo look at me! I only sell music to AMERICANS! stupid apple. now instead of being able to buy music legally, I just have yet another media player to add to my library of divx/windows media/interactual/quicktime/...

And for the record, tried to buy the Memento sndtrk the other day, but couldn't find it anywhere except for one store, and it was priced at $45. Back to Kazaa!!

Ok -

So Al seemed so excited, I installed it. (yes, it worked).

Plays MP3s just fine.
Takes upwards of 15 seconds to load a CD track and play it. crap.
The visual effects are awesome, but take up 30-40% of the CPU. Kinda like MS word sitting idle on a Mac.

Also installs and runs two extra services permanently on the machine: ituneshelper and ipod Service - that one must be real useful if you don't own an ipod.

So I don't use it anymore - I listen to too many plain CDs on the PC to like it. Sorry Al.
